Characterization and Properties of Petroleum Fractions
Product DescriptionBoth petroleum professionals and those without a technical engineering background will find this unique new manual to be a vital and comprehensive reference for the petroleum industry in both processing and production. WHAT MAKES THIS MANUAL SO UNIQUE? Presents over 600 predictive methods from theoretical to empirical, including the most widely used and most accurate ones for a wide range of conditions Covers over 100 thermodynamic and physical properties, which are applicable to a wide range of pure compounds, mixtures, petroleum fractions, petroleum products, heavy residues, waxes, asphaltenes, crude oils, natural gases, reservoir fluids, and coal liquids. Discusses light and heavy, liquid and vapor, and low and high pressure systems Provides specific recommendations for each listed property and its applications Includes solved practical problems and presents exercise problems with a large number of actual data for oils from around the world. This new manual is a unique and comprehensive resource for professionals in the petroleum industry, research, and government, as well as environmental organizations and academia. Table of ContentsChapter 1-Introduction Chapter 2-Characterization and Properties of Pure Hydrocarbons Chapter 3-Characterization of Petroleum Fractions Chapter 4-Characterization of Reservoir Fluids and Crude Oils Chapter 5-PVT Relations and Equations of State Chapter 6-Thermodynamic Relations for Property Estimations Chapter 7-Applications: Estimation of Thermophysical Properties Chapter 8-Applications: Estimation of Transport Properties Chapter 9-Applications: Phase Equilibrium Calculations Appendix IndexReview"...a tremendous resource to anyone working in the area of hydrocarbon analysis, properties estimation and process modelling..." --Jim McGehee, UOP, LLC, Refining Research & Development

R. Riazi is currently a professor of chemical engineering at Kuwait University. He was previously an assistant professor at Pennsylvania State University (U.S.A.), where he also received his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees. He was also a visiting professor at the following universities: Trondheim (Norway); Illinois (Chicago, USA) Wright State (Dayton, USA), Texas (Austin, USA) and McGill (Montreal, Canada). Dr. Riazi has been consultant to several oil companies and research institutes in North America, Western Europe, North Africa, Middle East and South East Asia. Dr. Riazi has published about 70 technical articles mainly in the fields of petroleum and chemical technology and has developed methods for three chapters of the API Data Book and authored two book chapters. In addition he has presented papers to more than 40 international conferences and Canadian Oil and Gas Review wrote about him. He is on the Editorial Board of Journal of ASTM International and has been a guest editor for the Middle East special issue of Journal of Petroleum Science and Engineering. Dr. Riazi's methods for characterization of crude oils and petroleum products have been used by oil companies and research centers worldwide and has presented about 80 invited lectures and short courses to the petroleum industry and research institutes in Canada, England, France, Switzerland, Denmark, Holland, Norway, Poland, Malaysia, India, China, Australia, Kuwait, Middle East and North Africa. In 1995, he was awarded a Diplom
