Charge!: Or, How to play war games

The true military war game has a long history. It has helped train military forces, test strategic plans and evolve new weapons. The amateur war game generates much the same excitement but is played with model soldiers. Two sets of rules are given, one for the elementary game, the other for the advanced, both framed under the heading of the influence of ground on movement, firing , and hand-to-hand combat. Some actual settings are provided, charts of deployments, and thirty-five black and white plates. Appendix explains how to acquire an army and how to paint the soldiers and horses.
