Actualmente existe un gran inters en la produccin industrial de plsmidos para uso mdico, con aplicacin en terapia gnica y vacunas de tercera generacin. stas tcnicas consisten bsicamente en transferir en forma eficiente un gen clonado en el plsmido, a clulas receptoras del cuerpo humano, para que codifique la sntesis de una protena que al expresarse, realice una accin inmunizante o teraputica. Los plsmidos como vectores no virales, se han considerado una alternativa para la prevencin, tratamiento y cura de enfermedades hereditarias o adquiridas como, por ejemplo, hemofilia y sida. En este libro se presentan y analizan dos bioprocesos para la produccin de DNA plasmdico, basados en tecnologa de membranas con el propsito de facilitar su escalamiento y mejorar su sustentabilidad. Parte del anlisis, consiste en evaluar la dinmica de las columnas de membranas de adsorcin utilizando modelos de transporte y simulacin con Matlab.
