Die vorliegende Festschrift anliiBlich der Emeritierung des Universitatspro fessors Wolfgang Northemann greift Themen auf, mit denen er sich als Hochschullehrer im Laufe seiner Lehr und Forschungstatigkeit auseinan dergesetzt hat, und versucht damit, der Breite seines Schaffens Rechnung zu tragen. Kolleginnen und Kollegen, die zum Teil seit Jahrzehnten im wissen schaftlichen Gedankenaustausch mit ihm stehen und sich Wolfgang Northemann auch personlich verbunden wissen, waren gem bereit, sein Werk und seine Anregungen auf jeweils individuelle Weise unter dem Leit thema 'Politische Bildung im Wandel' zu reflektieren. Wolfgang Northemann hat als Hochschullehrer im Bereich der Didaktik der mittleren Schulstufe an der Padagogischen Hochschule und als enga gierter Vertreter der Sozialkundedidaktik an der Technischen Universitiit Berlin die Unterrichtspraxis und fachdidaktische Theorie der politischen Bildung nachhaltig beeinfluBt. Ais Ende der 70er Jahre in Berlin die Eckdaten fUr eine integrierte Leh rerausbildung ausgehandelt wurden, trug er in einer hochschulpolitisch sen siblen Situation dazu bei, fachdidaktische Elemente fUr Studierende aller Lehramter zu sichern. In der Offentlichkeit ist er entschieden fiir die Professionalisierung der (Sozialkunde)Lehrerausbildung an der Universitat eingetreten und hat maB geblich zur Entwicklung der Konzeption eines iiberfachlichen Unterrichts mit politischgesellschaftlichen Inhalten beigetragen. Das Ergebnis seiner wissenschaftlichen Arbeit findet sich in zahlreichen Publikationen. Der Beruf des akademischen Lehrers beinhaltet nicht nur die Vertretung des Faches nach auBen, sondern auch und heute mehr denn je ein hohes MaB an Authentizitat im inneruniversitaren Bereich. Wolfgang Northemann nimmt diese Aufgabe sehr ernst: Wissensvermittlung und intensive Betreu ung der Studierenden sind ibm gleichermaBen Anliegen und Verpflichtung.
