Vorwort Die acht Jahre seit der 1. Auflage brachten der Qualitatslehre fundamentale Umbriiche. Vor 1986 beschrankte sich ihre Weiterentwicklung fast nur auf nationale Aktivitaten. Der Stand der Technik, insbesondere in den USA und bei der European Organization for Quality (EOQ), wurde als Basis betrachtet. Am Ende dieser Peri ode waren eine Normen reihe mit weit iiber 400 Begriffen sowie zahlreiche Verfahrensnormen verabschiedet. Ab 1986 gewannen internationale Normen des 1979 gegriindeten ISO TC 176 zunehmend Bedeutung, auch durch die Ubernahme der "ISO 9000Familie" als national zu iiberneh mende ENNormen. Wegen der anfanglich ablehnenden Haltung der deutschen Industrie waren sie nun ohne jede Vorbereitungsmoglichkeit schlagartig einzuftihren. Wider spriichlichkeiten zu den national vorher entwickelten Auffassungen waren dabei naturge miill nicht zu vermeiden. Deren UberbrUckung wird kiinftig zunehmend schwieriger, zumal der EinfluB der deutschen Normung auf die internationale Entwicklung bei we item nicht der wirtschaftlichen Bedeutung des deutschen Exports entspricht. Andererseits ist die deutsche Exportindustrie geneigt, sich vorwiegend oder ausschlieBlich mit internatio nal geltenden Regeln auseinanderzusetzen, auch wenn diese im Vergleich zu nationalen Regelungen viele Wiinsche offen lassen.
