And then  something  indeed comesfrom Elephant s trunk, a sneeze so mighty that it propels his friends clear across the room. After a second, even larger sneeze, the three return to their drawer and fall back asleep. Kubick s effectively grainy pastel crayon art gives these stuffed animal characters a fetching, cuddly quality. Of special charm are Elephant s changeable facial expressionsand his dapper sailor suit. The drowsy stuffed animals beg to differ, but Elephant is so insistent that they agree to help him search the moonlit nursery. The marginal suspense builds as the three friends look up the chimney, in the cupboards, and under the sofa, all to no avail. Elephant still insists that something is coming, and proves himself correct by sneezing a huge sneeze. This anticlimatic punch line is disappointing after the quietly building charm of the story.
