About the AuthorW. Thomas Porter has written 12 books including the 2001 regional best seller: The Glory of Washington: The People and Events That Shaped the Husky Athletic Tradition, co-authored by Jim Daves. He also collaborated in 2004 with Daves on Husky Stadium: Great Games and Golden Moments. Porter is a retired Executive Vice President of Bank of America and was the national chair of the University of Washington's $54 million Campaign for the Student Athlete. He graduated from Rutgers University where he earned six varsity letters and was selected to the All-East and third-team All-America baseball teams in 1953. He earned an MBA from the University of Washington and a Ph.D. from Columbia University. Because of his professional, business, and community activities and accomplishments, he has been listed in Who's Who in the United States since 1985.Led by Coach Jim Owens, Washington's 1959 and 1960 teams forged one of the two best records in collegiate football, back-to-back Rose Bowl victories, and the Huskies' first national championship.
