Contemporary Medical-Surgical Nursing, Volume 1

Contemporary Medical-Surgical Nursing, Volume 1

Contemporary is not only the first word in the title, but a key descriptor in this book's approach. The first new med-surg book to enter the market in years, Contemporary Medical-Surgical Nursing is a new and exciting text that presents comprehensive nursing care of the medical-surgical client as opposed to simply treating conditions and illnesses. Written with a focus on acute and collaborative care, this text is designed to be relevant and pragmatic in its approach by providing learner-oriented, logically organized information. It addresses key topic areas of clinical care, highlighting contemporary nursing approaches such as health care trends, health costs and benefits, law and ethics and cultural considerations. Contemporary Medical-Surgical Nursing helps bridge the gap from nursing student to professional by providing learners with the knowledge and skills that support today?s nursing practice. Available as one comprehensive book or in two volumes.Review'The table of contents for this text is comprehensive. It is orderly, makes sense to the reader, and appears internally consistent.''I have reviewed other books and they don't even come close to this. The book appears that it was written by an RN who probably is in current practice. This book is in the current world.''This draft and proposal contains very appealing ideas and concepts. It is an excellent idea to create a text with not only the pathology of a system, but to include the assessment of the system together. I applaud the design efforts of this text and look forward to seeing a finished publication for evaluation and inclusion into our program.''For an accute care text, it covers all the needed topics and follows the intended purpose of the text.''The proposal for the project is great. The vision of this book is very practical and user friendly for the student nurse.'About the AuthorRick Daniels, RN, Ph.D. obtained a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Oregon Nursing School, a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of San Diego and a Ph.D. in Nursing from the University of Texas in Austin.
