From Library JournalPublished to coincide with a special exhibition to be held at the Museum of Broadcasting in New York City, this volume contains a handful of essays (the best of which is by Pulitzer-winner William A. Henry III), synopses of more than 150 television and radio shows in which Benny appeared, an annotated radio script, an annotated TV script, and more than 150 photographs. The photos are not captioned; usually this presents no problem, but occasionally some information would have been welcome. The few minor errors should do nothing to mar the effectiveness of the synopses in refreshing the memories of fans, but the uninitiated are unlikely to be interested. Benny was a terrific performance artist, and to be appreciated he must be seen, or--even more importantly--heard.- John Smothers, Monmouth Cty.
