Love, Hope & Recovery: Healing the Pain of Addiction

Review If you yourself have struggled with addiction, take this journey with Joann and move yourself to a new level of healing. If someone you love is struggling with addiction, this book could reach them and help them begin their journey of recovery. -- from the Foreword by Sharon Wegscheider-Cruse, author of Coupleship; Another Chance; and Choice Making. A former alcoholic describes her treatment and recovery, offers encouragement to addicts to seek help, and discusses rebuilding relationships and finding inner peace About the Author Joann Breeden is a recovering alcoholic with over nineteen years of sobriety. Following treatment in 1974 at Serenity Lane, a treatment center for addiction and co-dependency, in Eugene, Oregon, she volunteered at the center for one year as a nurse's aide. After extensive counseling training, she became a Certified Addiction Counselor, working over seventeen years counseling alcoholics/addicts and their families, with a focus on children and co-dependents' issues. She was co-founder of Serenity Lane's Family Program in 1977 and co-supervised the program for eleven years, gaining experience in areas of intervention, lecturing, teaching, and management of chemical dependency and co-dependency treatment. In 1984 she wrote a 34-page book entitled Chemical Family. The book is primarily clinical and covers the specific roles and behavior patterns developed in a chemical family system. Excerpt.
