THE TRIANGLE STRIKE AND FIRE is the first volume in the AMERICAN STORIES series of brief books. Focusing on dramatic historical events, the books in this series include a broad range of primary materials that engage students' imaginations and challenge them with the same interpretive and methodological issues that historians grapple with in seeking to make sense of the past. The stories chosen represent intersections of several important historical developments. For example, the Triangle Strike (1909) and Fire (1911) are key events in various approaches to U.S. history: women's studies, labor history, cultural studies, and ethnic studies. About the Author John F. McClymer is professor of history at Assumption College in Worcester, Massachusetts and editor of the American Stories series. He has written several books and dozens of articles on a wide range of subjects in social, ethnic, and cultural history. He is co-director of the E Pluribus Unum project (www.assumption.edu/ahc), which examines crucial decades in American history and literature (1770s, 1850s, 1920s), and co-editor of H-ETHNIC.
