In two afroantillan pieces Nana para una Negrita and El Cumbancherito, Cordero employs resources and sonorities such as crossed strings, percussive blows, quartertones, pizzicati and harmonics. The composer's intention is to evoke the sonorities of the afroantillan culture, particularly that of the islands of Puerto Rico, Cuba, and Santo Domingo. The works are dedicated to the Uruguayan guitarist Baltazar Benitez. Text written in English and Spanish.
