September 1990 fand in der Berufsgenossenschaftlichen Unfallklinik Frankfurt am Main das Symposium, 20 Jahre Verriegelungs nagelung Eine Standortbestimmung' statt. 1m Rahmen dieses Symposi ums wurde die Bilanz einer Entwicklung gezogen, die Gerhard Kiintscher auf dem ChirurgenKongreB 1968 mit der Vorstellung seines Detentionsna gel zur Behandlung von Triimmerbriichen des Ober und Unterschenkel schaftes eingeleitet hatte. Der Detensor wurde 1970 durch Klemm und Schellmann in der Berufs genossenschaftlichen Unfallklinik Frankfurt am Main technisch weiterent wickelt und mit Einverstandnis von Kiintscher als Verriegelungsnagel be zeichnet. 1974 wurde der Verriegelungsnagel nach GrosseKempf modifi ziert, und mehr als 10 Jahre spater wurde der AOUniversalMarknagel, der ebenfalls proximal und distal verriegelt werden kann, entwickelt. Der Frankfurter Verriegelungsnagel hat in zwischen ein neues Design (Borner MattheckSystem) erhalten. Die Verriegelungsnagelung hat in nahezu allen unfallchirurgischen Kli niken Verbreitung gefunden. Dieses Verfahren hat sich bewahrt und eta bliert. Nach 20jahriger Erfahrung sollte eine Standortbestimmung im intern a tionalen Vergleich des in zwischen weltweit verbreiteten Systems erfolgen.
