Selections of the writings of Philo of Alexandria, edited with an introduction by Hans Lewy: Saadia Gaon's Book of Doctrines and Beliefs, abridged, introduced and translated from the Arabic by Alexander Altmann; and Yehuda Halevi's influential Kuzari, abridged and with an introduction and commentary by Isaak Heinemann, with a selection of Halevis poetry. All educated students of Jewish thought should be familiar with these seminal writers.
