In den ersten Kapiteln werden nacheinander die Epochen der einzelnen Knige nher beleuchtet. Anschlieend wird auf die Bereiche saudiarabischer Politik eingegangen, die sich im Laufe der Jahrzehnte kontinuierlich weiterentwickelt haben. Diese Themen werden separat behandelt, da eine gesplittete Zuordnung zu den Regierungszeiten der einzelnen Knige nur der bersichtlichkeit geschadet htte. Als Grundlage fr die Recherchen diente vor allem englischsprachige Literatur, die den Mittleren Osten unter verschiedenen Gesichtspunkten nher beleuchtet. Die wichtigsten darunter sind "The Modern Middle East" von Albert Hourani, Philips S. Khoury & Mary C. Wilson und "A History of the Modern Middle East" von William L. Cleveland. Ein weiteres wichtiges Buch, auf das sich diese Hausarbeit sttzt, ist "Der Golf" von Gerhard Konzelmann. Rostock, Mrz 2003
