Dies ist nun der letzte KongreBbericht der Deutschen Gesellschaft fur Unfallchirurgie in der gewohnten Form. Genau 5 Jahre hat die aktuelle Version bestanden. Inzwischen haben sich aber wesentliche Anderungen im Gebrauch wissenschaftlicher Publikationen ergeben. Fur den Autor sind Vortragspublikationen bezuglich der wissenschaftlichen Qualifika tion nahezu wertlos geworden, da nach Vorgaben von immer mehr Habilitationskom missionen Zeitschriften mit hohem ImpactFaktor angestrebt werden muss en, ja es ist sogar ein Nachteil, vorher schon in einem KongreBband publiziert zu haben, weil es die Akzeptanz in einem hoherwertigen Organ blockiert. Nur internationale, uber Datenban ken und Netze erreichbare Publikationen ermoglichen die Verbreitung und Zitierfahig keit der Resultate. Der Nutzer verfugt heute sowohl in der Praxis wie in der Klinik uber einen Computer, eventuell schon einen ISDNAnschluB, aufjeden Fall bevorzugt er die Hilfe einer Litera turDatenbank fiir den ersten Schritt seiner Recherche, bevor er, falls uberhaupt, eine Bibliothek bemuht. Der personliche Bucherschrank kann einer solchen schnellen Ak tualisierung nicht mithalten und ist rasch uberaltert. Deshalb hat das Prasidium in seiner Sitzung yom 30. Juni 1995 beschlossen, in Zukunft alle Beitrage zum KongreB als Abstractband vorzulegen und den eigentlichen Berichts band vorerst einzustellen, bis eventuell in wenigen Jahren elektronische Medien auch fur einen Jahresbericht allgemein verfiigbar sind. Die Chronik der Gesellschaft wird in dem bereits bestehenden Mitteilungsblatt er scheinen und damit allen Mitgliedern zur Verfiigung stehen.
