No breath of scandal has ever touched the aristocratic Moidore familyuntil Sir Basils beautiful widowed daughter is stabbed to death in her own bed, a shocking, incomprehensible tragedy.Inspector William Monk is ordered to investigate in a manner that will give the least possible pain to the influential family. But Monk, brilliant and ambitious, is handicapped by lingering traces of amnesia and by the craven ineptitude of his supervisor, who would like nothing better than to see Monk fail. With the help of nurse Hester Latterly, a progressive young woman who served with Florence Nightingale in the Crimea, Monk gropes warily through the silence and shadows that obscure the case, knowing that with each step he comes closer to the appalling truth.

I picked up 'A Dangerous Mourning' because I'm a big fan of historical mysteries. The character development is excellent, and the plot kept me guessing until the end. The details about William Monk's life in Victorian London really brought the story to life! Highly engaging book!

Interesting but Lacked Pacing
I found 'A Dangerous Mourning' to be a solid read, but it had some slow parts that dragged on a bit. The premise is intriguing, and Monk is a compelling character, but I expected a bit more from the pacing. Still, it’s a decent addition to my collection of mystery novels!

Disappointing, Didn’t Meet Expectations
Honestly, I was underwhelmed by 'A Dangerous Mourning.' The storyline felt predictable, and I found it hard to connect with Monk. I had high hopes after reading the synopsis, but it just didn’t captivate me like I hoped it would. I wouldn’t recommend it if you’re looking for a gripping mystery.
