This dictionary compares 1321 AngloAmerican proverbs to 1650 Albanian correspondents, of which 362 are full equivalents and 1288 are partial ones. Although the number of the Albanian proverbs that have full equivalents in English is lower than the number of the Albanian proverbs that have partial equivalents, partial equivalence is to be considered in close connection with the degree of partiality. The imbalance between the figures 1321 and 1650, which represent the number of the AngloAmerican proverbs and their Albanian correspondent, is explained by the fact that the same proverb in Albanian has different regional variants that have been promoted by our country?s conspicuous regional distinctions.
