Chris Park offers a comprehensive reference work containing over 8,500 informative entries on all aspects of the environment and conservation, embracing a broad spectrum of concerns, including sustainable development, biodiversity, environmental ethics, philosophy and history, resource management, sociology, and environmental policy. In addition to its wideranging, concise definitions, the Dictionary includes thirty highlighted entries on topics such as Antarctica, Chernobyl, the Kyoto Protocol, and ozone depletion. And unlike other books in this area, the dictionary addresses not only the scientific side of conservation and the environment, but also social, legal, political and economic aspects. Readers will find clear, concise coverage of international treaties and movements as well as biographies of key figures in environmental science. The volume also boasts wide coverage of terms relating to rural/community development and participation, an area that plays an increasingly crucial role in managing the environment and biodiversity. The dictionary concludes with a valuable selection of 10 appendices, including the Beaufort scale and the Torino asteroid and comet impact hazard scale, plus the geologic timescale and an appendix of useful websites for further study.

I bought this Oxford Quick Reference book for my environmental studies class, and it's been a lifesaver! The entries are clear and to the point, making complex terms easy to understand. I love that it covers so many topics related to conservation too!

Came with a Tear in the Cover
I was excited to get this dictionary, but when it arrived, there was a tear in the cover. Very disappointing! I love the content, but I expected better packaging. I’ll probably return it for another copy.

Great for Beginners
I bought this for my niece who's just starting to learn about the environment. It's a great introduction to the subject, and the explanations are simple enough for her to grasp. It's definitely a good starting point!

Handy for Quick Definitions
This dictionary is pretty handy for quick definitions, especially when you’re studying environmental science. However, I wish it had more illustrations to help visualize some of the concepts. Still, it's a solid resource overall!

Limited Coverage on Some Topics
While this reference book does a decent job on mainstream environmental terms, I found it lacking in some niche areas. The content felt a bit basic for my advanced studies. Still useful for quick references, just don’t expect in-depth coverage.
