Product Description Ugaritic, discovered in 1929, is a NorthWest Semitic language, documented on clay tablets and dated between the 14th and the 12th centuries B.C.E. The documents are of various types: literary, administrative, lexicological. The administrative documents shed light on the organization of Ugarit, thus contributing greatly to our understanding of the history and culture of the biblical and NorthWest Semitic world. This important reference work deals with the phonology, morphology and syntax of Ugaritic and contains an appendix with text selections. About the Author Daniel Sivan, Ph.D., is Professor of Biblical Hebrew and NorthWest Semitic languages at Beer Sheva University; he also teaches at Bar Ilan University. His publications include studies on grammatical aspects of Biblical Hebrew and Ugaritic.
