In 2001, Brenda started to write stories around an insect character created by her daughter Claire. Brenda added a family and friends, developing an insect community. She designed the stories for childrens enjoyment, to encourage them to learn about nature, and to help their reading abilities. Claire created the Grub character years ago, as a teenager, and started to bring Brenda's stories to life with her detailed and colourful illustrations. Brenda is a creative writer and health & wellness coach. She founded the Come Alive School of Natural Health & Wellbeing, where she works as a practitioner. In addition to illustrating and producing The Grub Tales, Claire is an artist working with oil paint, and she also owns a language services company offering translation, content writing, content editing and proofreading.
