Complex interactions and beliefs among the actors involved are emphasized, as well as how the medical community interpreted and responded to the risks posed.Few places in the United States contain this mixture of industrial and postindustrial sites, the Las Vegas area offers unique opportunities to evaluate American occupational health during the twentieth century, and reminds us all about the relevancy of protecting our workers.

There's a wealth of information in this book, but I found some sections quite dense. It’s great for research, but I wish there were more visuals or summaries to break up the text. Still, it's a solid addition to any safety professional's library.

Not What I Expected
I was disappointed with this book as it didn't cover as much as I thought it would. The title made me think it would focus more on practical applications in today's workplaces, but it’s very historical. Definitely not what I was hoping for, so I’m giving it a low rating.

A Comprehensive Look at Safety History
This book is a fantastic resource for anyone interested in the evolution of occupational health and safety. It covers a lot of ground from 1905 to now, and it’s written in a way that’s easy to understand. I bought it for my history class, and my students have been really engaged with the material!
