Nicolae Iorgas A History of Romania: Land, People, Civilization is an intimate portrait of a land and its people written by its greatest historian. Much like Herodotus in antiquity, Iorga can be considered the father of history for his country. Like a true artist, he paints a portrait of Romania, bringing to life the complex history of this fascinating land. Iorga skillfully weaves together history, art, architecture, language, literature, and culture to give the reader an understanding of the fabric of Romanian society. The author presents the history of the Romanian lands from ancient times until the end of World War I, reflecting on the great personalities and events that shaped the nation, while examining the various threads that bind it together. The book includes a list of rulers, a bibliography, an index, and numerous illustrations. It includes a foreword by David Prodan, another great personality of Romanian historiography, discussing Iorgas contributions to Romanian scholarship. Nicolae Iorgas A History of Romania is essential reading for anyone interested in the story of this fascinating land.

I bought this for my son who is studying Eastern European history. He loves how it covers the land and people so thoroughly. It's been a great supplement to his classes. Would recommend to other parents!

Disappointed in the Print Quality
I was excited to read this book, but the print quality is lacking. Some pages are hard to read because of the font size. I wish I could exchange it for a better edition. The content is interesting, but the presentation could be much better.

So Much Information, Hard to Digest
There's a lot of information packed into this book, which is great, but sometimes it feels overwhelming. The organization could be better to help readers navigate through the chapters more easily. Not a bad book, just a bit dense!

Engaging but Not Perfect
While this book offers great insights into Romanian history, I found some sections a bit hard to follow. The descriptions are detailed, but it could use more visuals to break up the text. Still a solid read for history buffs!

A Must-Read for Travelers to Romania
If you're planning to visit Romania, this book is a fantastic resource! It really paints a picture of the land and its people. I enjoyed the sections on cultural traditions—they added so much to my understanding!
