Organized chronologically, 'A Jazz Odyssey takes readers through the development of jazz over the course of the late 20th century as seen by one of the jazz world's most celebrated figures. Peterson describes his whole colorful and eventful life, from playing with the Johnny Holmes Orchestra in Montreal in the 1940s, through his famous concerts in New York (Jazz at the Philharmonic), the formation of the Oscar Peterson Trio, to his recovery from a stroke in the mid '90s. He writes candidly about his personal life, giving readers a rare look at the private life of the jazz star. In 1997 Oscar Peterson received a Grammy for Lifetime Achievement and an International Jazz Hall of Feme Award.
