Wolfers (d. 2001), his galleries, life, and the artists he supported are remembered in this attractive volume drawn from interviews and an unfinished autobiography. The volume chronicles Wolfer's New Grafton Gallery, founded in London in 1968, an important arena for British figurative painting at a time when abstraction was popular. The many artists remembered here include John Piper, Sarah Spence, John Piper, Carel Wright, and Mary Fedden.
