This book grew out of a desire to know more about spiritualjourney. It is only natural to understand and experience the first people of this nation. It is through their ritual and expression of spiritual meaning that we may truly know the history of this land. This particular Sundance occurred at Hoosier National Forest for a space of five years. The Sundance is the main ritual honoring the Divine for the Lakota nation. It is here that sacrifice, honor, and meaning partakes of the reality wherein we live our lives. It is performed so that the "people may live."
