She married her husband in 2016 and shortly after graduated from the University of Tennessee with her degree in social work. For years she worked in the Department of Children's Services. She originally wrote A Smell of a Tail her senior year of High School as part of a class project. After being convinced by her husband, Jodi decided to publish her first book by turning her story into an illustrated children's book.Mason Dakota (real name Mason Powell) was born at Fort Bragg in 1995. He grew up most of his life outside of Knoxville, Tennessee where he met his wife, Jodi, and graduated from Johnson University. Mason started writing stories as a kid and after graduating from college decided to step into the publishing space by releasing the first book in his Dystopian King Series. Today Mason is not only an author but serves as the Teaching CoPastor at The Bluff Church in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.
