A beautifully illustrated and giftable guide to a year in wildflowers, from BBCs Gardeners World presenter Francis Tophill.Experience a year through 60 wildflowers, beautifully pressed, illustrated and described.Throughout the year, Gardeners World presenter and renowned author Frances Tophill has collected and documented 60 beautiful wildflowers. For each species, she eloquently describes its importance and unique features, as well as their habitat, when they can be found in bloom, and what other species you might expect to find nearby. She also explains whether they are edible and their possible medicinal uses, and how wildflowers have a crucial role to play in the fight to preserve our vital biodiversity, combat climate change and to support pollinators. Alongside these thoughtful entries are elegant botanical illustrations by Julia McKenzie, as well as reproductions of pressed flowers.A Wildflower Year is both a monthbymonth ode to wildflowers and a useful tool for identifying and growing your own. Compact but beautiful this fourcolour, beautifully presented book is the perfect gift for any naturelover.

I was excited to get this book to learn about wildflowers, but I found a few inaccuracies in the descriptions. For example, one flower was misidentified, which caused confusion during a recent nature walk. I hope they correct these in future editions!

Beautiful Book, Not Quite What I Expected
The illustrations are gorgeous, and I love the detail about different habitats. That said, I was hoping for more practical tips on finding and caring for these flowers. It's more of a coffee table book than a field guide, but still enjoyable!

Great Resource, But Lacking Some Flowers
Overall, the book is a solid introduction to wildflowers and their histories. However, I noticed a few common species in my area weren't included, which was a bit disappointing. Still, it's a nice read and very informative!
