Like All Modern Aryan Languages, AwadhiS Origins Are Believed To Date Back To The Tenth Century, Based On The Evidence Of The LanguageS Written Form. However, ItS Difficult To Pinpoint Exactly How Many Centuries Before The Tenth Century This Language Originated. No One Can Pinpoint The Exact Date Folk Literature Has Been Written In Awadhi. However, ItS No Stretch Of The Imagination To Assume That The Language, Which Appears In Its Written Form Around The Tenth Or Eleventh Centuries, Must Have Had An Oral Form Already Taking Shape Elsewhere, Extensive, Energetic, And Engaging. Despite Being Relegated From A Language To A Dialect, Awadhi Creativity Remained Unabated In Modern Times. Poets Wrote, And Effectively, In The Language Of Their Homes, Villages, And Awadh. Unmindful Of Whether Anyone Was Watching Them, Whether Their Work Would Be Published, Or Whether Anyone Would Ever Evaluate It, Awadhi Writers Simply Wrote. The Positive Result Is That Modern Awadhi Literature Is Not Lacking In Writers And Works. Throughout Awadh, And Even Beyond, Awadhi Writers Have Produced A Vast Body Of Literature. Whether It Is Valuable Is A Different Matter, But Awadhi Creative Efforts, Amidst The Many Negatives, Deserve To Be Appreciated. This Book Is An Effort In That Direction.
