Abandoned Places of World War II explores more than 100 bunkers, pillboxes, submarine bases, forts, and gun emplacements from the North Sea to Okinawa. Included are defensive structures, such as the Maginot Line on Frances eastern border with Germany, Germanys own western and eastern border defenses, and the Atlantic Wall, the Germanbuilt bunkers and pillboxes on the coast from Denmark down to Brittany. The book also includes both Hitlers and Himmlers Eastern Front bunkers in Poland. But beyond the military installations, the book explores the ruins of concentration camps, the empty village of OradourSurGlane, Hitlers mountain retreat at Berchtesgaden, and the dilapidated Nazi Party rally grounds in Nuremberg, among other nonmilitary places.

This book is a treasure! The images of abandoned WWII sites are haunting yet beautiful. I enjoyed learning about the different stories behind each location. It’s a great addition to my collection.

Not what I expected
I wanted more variety in the photos. While the subject is intriguing, some of the locations are less visually impactful than I hoped. It's decent, but I think it could have used a better selection of sites.

Disappointed with the quality
Unfortunately, my copy of 'Abandoned Places of World War II' arrived with several pages damaged. The content seemed interesting, but the poor condition really ruined it for me. I expected better quality given the topic.
