Gesundheitserhaltung und Krankheitsvorbeugung werden nicht nur zu einer individuellen, sondern immer mehr auch zu einer gesellschaftspolitischen Aufgabe, die aus der sozialen Verpflichtung resultiert, eine fr alle Menschen optimale Gesundheitsversorgung zu gewhrleisten. In diesem Kontext kommt dem Begriff Gesundheitssport' in den letzten Jahren eine immer grere Bedeutung zu. Obwohl eine eindeutige Definition schwierig erscheint, mitunter sogar abgelehnt wird , so hat sich der Terminus dennoch im allgemeinen Sprachgebrauch etabliert. Diese Entwicklung zeigt, so der Deutsche Sportbund, dass es im ffentlichen Bewusstsein zu einer weitgehenden Identifizierung der Begriffe Gesundheit' und Sport' gekommen ist (vgl. DSB, 1993, S. 197). Laut DSB wird der Begriff Gesundheitssport dabei wie folgt definiert: Gesundheitssport ist eine aktive, regelmige und systematische krperliche Belastung mit der Absicht, Gesundheit in all ihren Aspekten, d.h. somatisch wie psychosozial, zu frdern, zu erhalten oder wiederherzustellen. Gesundheitssport umfat den Prventivsport, die Bewegungs und Sporttherapie sowie den Rehabilitationssport. Da Sport auch mit gesundheitsbezogenen Risiken verbunden sein kann, mssen die Inhalte dosiert und in Anlehnung an die individuellen Voraussetzungen ausgewhlt werden (DSB, 1993, S.198).
