Karsten Grabow untersucht auf breiter empirischer Basis, inwieweit sich in den vergangenen zehn Jahren die Organisationsmuster der ostdeutschen Parteiverbnde von SPD und CDU an die ihrer westdeutschen Schwesterverbnde angenhert haben. Dabei zeigen sich signifikante organisatorische Differenzen. So verkrpern beide Parteien in den alten Bundeslndern noch immer den Typus der Volkspartei mit Massenbasis, wenngleich sich aufgrund anhaltender Mitgliederverluste ein Abschied von dieser Organisationsform abzeichnet. Demgegenber haben die Parteien in den neuen Lndern dieses Stadium nie erreicht und reprsentieren als sogenannte Rahmenverbnde einen anderen Parteiorganisationstypus.
