El libro analiza las prcticas laborales de WalMart, a partir de un esquema analtico que pone en el centro, las prcticas laborales abusivas vinculadas a la racionalidad corporativa moderna. Para ello, se observa el comportamiento corporativo desde finales del siglo XIX hasta nuestros das; se realiza un balance de WalMart, su historia, su situacin en Mxico, as como las principales crticas que en materia laboral emergieron a finales del siglo XX y principios del XXI y se propone el esquema analtico del abuso corporativo laboral. A partir de este desarrollo, se consideran las prcticas laborales abusivas como dispositivos estratgicos, que se originan en el seno de la corporacin para facilitar la conduccin laboral y no slo como producto de determinantes estructurales del modelo econmico. Los resultados del trabajo emprico, basados en la estrategia metodolgica del estudio de caso muestran, de manera especfica, las prcticas laborales abusivas que implementa WalMart a sus trabajadores y que hasta ahora slo se describan de manera general.
