Zwangsstrafen den Widerspenstigen durch Ausschluss aus der Gemeinschaft zur Bue zwingen sollten. Im II. und III. Kapitel werden der Ursprung sowie die verschiedenen Formen von Acht und Bann nher behandelt, whrend in Kapitel IV. und V. deren Einzelheiten (Grnde, Verhngung, Wirkungen sowie jeweilige Lsungsformen) erlutert werden. Im Anschluss daran wird in Kapitel VI. das Zusammenwirken von Acht und Bann beschrieben, das in gemeinsamen strafbewehrten Taten sowie der gegenseitigen Untersttzung der weltlichen und kirchlichen Institution bei der Durchsetzung der jeweiligen Strafe zum Ausdruck kam. Die Arbeit schliet mit einer Darstellung des 22 der Wahlkapitulation Karls V. und des Verfahrens gegen Luther sowie der dadurch bedingten, abschwchenden Entwicklung von Acht und Bann ab. Ihr Bedeutungswegfall wird heute als weiterer Meilenstein auf dem Wege zur religisen Toleranz gesehen.
