Die Fragestellung im Titel dieser Arbeit: Addis Abeba, eine echte Neue Blume? entstand aus der Empirie der Forschungsarbeit des Autors. Diese Fragestellung verkrpert, so zahlreich und plural sie auch sind, alle Komponenten der Politik, der Planung und Plandurchfhrung in Addis Abeba. Die vorliegende Arbeit zeigt mit anthropologischen Perspektiven die Problematik der Stadtplanung von Addis Abeba und die daraus entstehenden soziopolitischen und soziokonomischen Konsequenzen auf die Bevlkerung auf. Es besteht tatschlich ein Spannungsfeld zwischen dem Bedrfnis der Menschen nach Land (beispielsweise zur Besiedlung, zur Bewirtschaftung, zum Wohnen) und dem (staatlichen) Bedarf an Land aufgrund bestimmter Stadtplanungsmanahmen wie Wohnraumversorgung und anderer Entwicklungsprojekte. Dieses Spannungsfeld fhrt hufig zu (Zwangs)Umsiedlungen. Aus dieser Problematik ergeben sich verschiedene Dimensionen bzw. Felder, die im Zuge dieser Forschungsarbeit untersucht werden. Die Heterogenitt der Akteure verweist auf die Frage: was ist Recht? Den thiopischen Staat als Protagonist der stdtischen Entwicklung und die wegen der Entwicklung Umzusiedelnden als Antagonisten zu entdecken, ist das Resultat eines Missverstndnisses, das durch diese Forschung sichtbar wird.
