Cada movimiento muscular del cuerpo humano es activado por medio de seales elctricas transmitidas a travs del sistema nervioso, denominadas histricamente como seales electromiogrficas. La expresin de stas, al propagarse por los tejidos resistivos circundantes a las junturas neuromusculares, puede ser captada mediante electrodos sobre la superficie de la piel y, una vez interpretada correctamente, utilizada para controlar un dispositivo mecnico externo, como por ejemplo una prtesis robtica. En el presente trabajo se describe la naturaleza biolgica y elctrica de estas seales, asi como los requisitos tcnicos que el sistema de adquisicin y clasificacin debe satisfacer. Como tema central se presenta en detalle el desarrollo especfico del equipo de adquisicin, un electromigrafo porttil, y los resultados alcanzados con ste. Se introduce adems el sistema de clasificacin de seales desarrollado previamente en el marco del proyecto, cuyo objetivo final es lograr el control fiable y automtico de una prtesis de mano.
