In Sdafrika stellt Affirmative Action ein Thema dar, welches sowohl von Fachleuten als auch von der breiten ffentlichkeit heftigst diskutiert wird. Es zeigt vielmehr auf interessante Weise die Verzahnung zwischen Recht/Politik, Wirtschaft und Gesellschaft in einem Land auf, das nach langer Zeit endlich den Weg zur Demokratie fand und im Jahre 2004 deren zehnjhriges Jubilum feierte. Auch in den USA wird Affirmative Action nicht nur als juristisches, sondern ebenfalls als politisches Thema von allen Gesellschaftsgruppen wahrgenommen. Hier bezieht sich Affirmative Action jedoch auf die Frderung von Minderheiten, wohingegen im sdafrikanischen Kontext die Frderung der Mehrheit propagiert wird (vgl. Dupper 2005, S. 91). Im Gegensatz hierzu findet der Begriff in einem kulturell homogeneren Land wie Deutschland weniger Anklang und wird, wenn berhaupt, nur im Zusammenhang mit Frauenquoten erwhnt (vgl. Gas 2002, S. 7). Die folgende Arbeit verfolgt daher das Ziel, dem deutschen bzw. europischen Leser das Thema Affirmative Action am Beispiel seiner Erscheinungsform in Sdafrika nher zu bringen. Schlielich zeigen die krzlichen Ereignisse in Frankreich auf, dass mit einer zunehmenden Heterogenisierung europischer Lnder auch hier das Thema Affirmative Action bald von enormer Aktualitt sein knnte, was die Stellung ethnischer Sondergruppen wie z.B. den Maghrebinern in Frankreich betrifft.
