The present reference book gives comprehensive advice and guidance on the design, calculations and efficient operation of air conditioning systems for hospitals, health care facilities building and engineering technology used in the delivery of health care. The focus of this book remains on health carespecific elements of design, calculations, standards, policies and uptodate established best practice. These should be applied to new and existing hospitals, and are for use at various stages during the whole building life cycle. Health care providers have a duty of care to ensure that appropriate engineering governance arrangements are in place and are managed effectively. The author had spent the past 40 years in actual hospital and health care facilities design of air conditioning and ventilations systems as well as other electromechanical services. It is not the intention within this work to unnecessarily repeat international or European standards, industry standards or governments' legislations. Where appropriate, these will be referenced. Health carespecific technical engineering guidance is a vital tool in the safe and efficient operation of health care facilities
