This study was written for the Historical Division, EUCOM, U.S. Army, by a committee of former German officers. The contributors to this study represent a crosssection of expert German opinion on airborne operations. This study is concerned only with the landing of airborne fighting forces in an area occupied or controlled by an enemy and with the subbsequent tactical commitment of those forces in conventional ground combat. Contributors include Hellmuth Reinhardt, Werner Ehrig, Freiherr von der Heydte, Albert Kesselring, Eugen Meindl, Max Pemsel, Kurt Student, Guenther Blumentritt, Albert Emmerich, Siegfried Westphal, and Fritz Ziegelmann. Airborne Operations was originally published by the U.S. Army in 1989 and has long been out of print.
