Ebenso hat die instrumentelle Diagno stik lebensbedrohlicher Verletzungsfolgen seit EinfUhrung der axia len Computertomographie und der Hirndruckmessung einen hohen Stand erreicht. Nicht immer und uberall aber steht dieses technische Optimum zur Verfugung. Zudem gelangt nur der kleinere Teil der Verletzten primar in eine entsprechend ausgestattete Spezialabtei lung. Hauptanliegen dieses Kompendiums ist es, dem mit der Primarver sorgung SchadelHirnVerletzter konfrontierten Arzt Anregungen und praktische Hinweise fUr die Akutversorgung, Differentialdia gnose und Indikationsstellung zu weiterfuhrenden MaBnahmen zu geben. Dabei wurde besonderer Wert auf die SofortmaBnahmen ge legt, da schon in dieser Phase die Weichen fUr den weiteren Verlauf gestellt werden. Der Bedeutung der axialen Computertomographie entsprechend, wurden von den wichtigsten Verletzungsfolgen entsprechende Bei spiele zur Illustration ausgewahlt.
