Alfalfa is a pretty little Palomino horse who goes to school. She is good at PE, but has a hard time with reading and writing, because she cannot see. Once she gets glasses, the world changes for her and she can read and write, but she faces bullying in school. The story deals with feeling terrible about not being able to read or write when others can, wearing glasses, and the bullying problem. Alfalfas Glasses is bilingual, English and Spanish, so a child can read either and can learn words and sentences in another language, especially with the delightful drawings that make the meaning clear.
