I moved in to take care of my greatgrandmother Alice, who was 99 years old. I wanted her to spend what time she had left in her own place, not an unfamiliar retirement community or nursing home. This is a detailed account of the daytoday struggles we faced together. Alice was the greatgrandmother suffering from Alzheimers, and I was the loving greatgranddaughter who tended to her every need. This book documents her downward spiral from constant lucidity to almost permanent confusion. The journal entries span a fivemonth period of time, from when I moved in with her, until she passed away. I am hoping others can find my various tactics and methods helpful and reassuring during their troubled and difficult times.
