Auf internationaler Ebene existieren grosse Unterschiede im jugendlichen Substanzkonsum, die theoretisch sowohl auf individuelle wie auch auf Umfeldfaktoren zurckgefhrt werden. Die Schweiz weist als fderalistisches Land eine sehr vielfltige Struktur auf: Sie ist in 26 gesellschaftlich, kulturell, konomisch, kologisch und politisch unterschiedliche Kantone geteilt. Die vorliegende Dissertation zielte auf einen Vergleich kantonaler Ausprgungen im Alkohol, Tabak und Cannabiskonsum von Jugendlichen. Sie suchte ausserdem plausible Erklrungen fr mgliche kantonale Substanzkonsumunterschiede. Die Kantone Aargau, Bern, Freiburg, Jura, Tessin, Wallis und Zrich lieferten reprsentative Daten ber den Substanzkonsum von 11 bis 15jhrigen Jugendlichen aus drei Erhebungswellen 1998, 2002 und 2006. Diese Daten wurden im Rahmen der Gesamtschweizer Health Behaviour in SchoolAged Children"Studie erhoben. Die 25'017 nach kantonalen Demographien gewichteten Flle mndeten in die Sekundranalyse der vorliegenden Arbeit ein. Die LogitAnalysen ergaben signifikante generelle kantonale Unterschiede beim wchentlichen Alkoholkonsum sowie bei der CannabisLebenszeitprvalenz. Darber hinaus existierten signifikante Interaktionen zwischen Kantonen und Erhebungszeitpunkten, sowohl bei der CannabisLebenszeitprvalenz wie auch beim wchentlichen Tabakkonsum. Die aggregierten Prvalenzen des jugendlichen Substanzkonsums wurden in linearen Regressionsanalysen mit Variablen der Kantone in Beziehung gebracht. Der
