Die Forschung zu diesem Thema ist unglcklicherweise geprgt von einem gewissen Unverstndnis Ginsbergs buddhistischer Dichtung gegenber. Dies lsst sich mglicherweise auf eine Distanz zwischen westlicher und stlicher Philosophie und Denkweise, jedoch insbesondere auf die schiere Unkenntnis seines persnlichen Gebrauchs der buddhistischen Lehre zurckfhren. Die Bewertung von Ginsbergs Verstndnis des Buddhismus gem einer korrekten Auslegung der buddhistischen Lehre stellt im vorliegenden Fall nicht die Grundlage fr die Analyse seiner Gedichte. Vielmehr setzt sich die vorliegende Arbeit zum Ziel, zum einen Ginsbergs persnliches Verstndnis des Buddhismus, welches sich durch dessen Erkenntnisse in Asien herausgebildet hat, als Grundlage in die Analyse zu integrieren und zum anderen die Manifestierung seiner auf dieser persnlich interpretierten buddhistischen Lehre basierenden Dichtung aufzuzeigen. Dabei betrachtet die vorliegende Arbeit eine Zeitspanne von einigen Jahrzehnten in Ginsbergs Leben, um sowohl Gedichte vor als auch nach seiner Asienreise als Vergleichsgrundlage heranziehen zu knnen.
