About the Author Klaus Kranert wurde 1934 in Ellrich geboren, studierte Schiffbau an der Uni Rostock; nach spektakulrer Flucht gelang ihm im Westen der Aufstieg zum Entwicklungsleiter bei AEGSchiffbau; 1977 Promotion an der TUBerlin ber neue Schiffsantriebe, viele wissenschaftliche Verffentlichungen, Vortrge im In und Ausland, aktuelle Beitrge in Zeitschriften wie "Hansa" und "Schiff und Hafen". Im Leben nach dem Beruf ging er seinem liebsten Hobby nach und segelte auf eigenem Kiel rund Europa und begann gleichzeitig seine Erinnerungen an viele unwahrscheinliche Begebenheiten durch Schreiben festzuhalten. Kranert lebt heute in Hamburg.
