Alter Ego: A Decade of Work by Anthony Goicolea documents the artists first retrospective exhibition, presenting nearly fifty compelling works of art representing the bold and varied scope of Goicoleas career to date. Born in 1971 in Atlanta, Georgia, Anthony Goicolea is a firstgeneration Cuban American artist now working in Brooklyn, New York. Employing a variety of media, Goicolea explores themes ranging from personal history and identity, to alienation and displacement, to environmental destruction and globalization. His diverse oeuvre encompasses blackandwhite and color photography, sculpture and video installations, and multilayered drawings and paintings on Mylar. Goicoleas ability to move with ease between traditional media, such as painting and drawing, to video and digital photography, has put him at the forefront of contemporary art.Published by the North Carolina Museum of Art and Telfair MuseumsExhibition ItineraryNorth Carolina Museum of ArtRaleigh, North Carolina April 17July 24, 2011Telfair Museums: Jepson CenterSavannah, Georgia September 2, 2011January 8, 201221c MuseumLouisville, Kentucky January 27, 2012July 15, 2012
