Das Land im Herzen des Nahen Ostens wird jedoch eher selten im Zusammenhang mit dem arabischen Frhling erwhnt: Der Libanon. Dennoch kam es auch in dem kleinen Staat an der Levante zu Demonstrationen und Auseinandersetzungen mit Sicherheitskrften. Die Aufstandsbewegung in der arabischen Welt, die nun ohne Rcksicht auf Konfession und Ethnizitt ein bergreifendes Bewusstsein, ein shared awarness", heraufbeschworen hat, trifft auch auf den tief durch den 15jhrigen Brgerkrieg gespaltenen Libanon. Hier streiten sich seit Jahrhunderten und vermehrt seit Ausbruch des Brgerkriegs Historiker, Politiker und Kleriker ber die Existenz einer nationalen Identitt und wie diese, wenn vorhanden, auszusehen habe. Die mehrdeutige Identitt des Landes spaltete dessen Bevlkerung entlang lokaler, nationaler und ideologischer Linien. Entlang dieser entstand ein konflikttrchtiges Spannungsfeld kommunaler, staatlicher und nationaler Grenzen, welches die Frage nach der Identitt sehr problematisch gestaltet. Daher entstand im Libanon eine hohe Sensitivitt gegenber sozialer Kohrenz und nationaler Einheit. Im weitgefcherten Spektrum der libanesischen Gesellschaft ist religiser Kommunalismus die vorherrschende Identitt. Daher herrscht seit langem die Forderung nach einer Skularisierung, um die trennende Kluft zu berwinden. Trotz dieser heiklen Problematik in einem Land mit mehr als 18 verschiedenen Konfessionsgruppen kommt es auch hier zu Protesten, vornehmlich von Studenten und Intellektuellen. Anhand von Interviews mit Beiruter Studenten, Fotomaterial, Teilnahme an sozialen Netzwerken und Feldnotizen soll dargestellt werden, wie sich die Umgebung der Studenten im Gegensatz zu der der Brgerkriegsgeneration verndert.
