Die Suche nach alternativen Sanktionen zum Freiheitsentzug stellt bereits seit einiger Zeit einen wesentlichen Bestandteil der strafrechtswissenschaftlichen Diskussion dar. Aktuelle Bedeutung gewinnt die Problematik durch die von der Bundesregierung beabsichtigte Reform des Sanktionensystems. Diese lsst einen weiteren Ausbau ambulanter Sanktionen erwarten. Wesentliche Bestandteile der beabsichtigten Reform sind die Ausdehnung des Anwendungsbereichs des Fahrverbots, die Einfhrung des elektronisch berwachten Hausarrests und der Ausbau der gemeinntzigen Arbeit. Die Vor und Nachteile dieser Sanktionen werden im Rahmen dieser Abhandlung diskutiert. Ausgangspunkt ist hierbei die Begrndung eines konkreten Bedrfnisses nach ambulanten Sanktionen. Es folgt eine kritische Auseinandersetzung mit den genannten alternativen Sanktionen. Schlielich finden auch weitere Reformanstze auf Basis des bestehenden Sanktionensystems Bercksichtigung.
