Nepal, a country which still teaches its students that Nepal is second richest country in terms of per capita water resources has little to be proud of this fact owing to the continuous scarcity of water faced by its people every day. It is not only pure drinking water that is in shortage but also the water for other uses. Many new alternatives to water supply like Rainwater Harvesting system, Fog water Collection system and water tankers have been discussed as some of the possibilities for the same. These alternatives were compared by calculating the cost of water collected from each alternative considering their life span, investment and payback period from the perspective of the consumer and testing for the E.Coli contamination. The perception of people was positive towards these alternatives yet there was not enough awareness about the alternatives. Rain Water harvesting system was found as the best alternative with easy implementation in almost all parts of the country, zero energy input and cheapest alternative to collect potable water. This book should help researchers and people who wish to gain an insight into existing alternatives for water supply systems in Nepal.
