Product DescriptionSteinwerkzeuge speichern Informationen und erzhlen von der Geschichte des Menschen. Sie stammen aus der Sammlung von Albert Westrich aus Schmitshausen (Pfalz) und gaben den Ansto zur wissenschaftlichen Untersuchung durch Emil Hoffmann. Systematisch trennte er Geofakte von Artefakten. Die danach folgende Formenbestimmung fhrte zu einer Typologie und Beschreibung von 425 Artefakten, ausschlielich aus Grauwacke. Zusammen mit der angewendeten Schlagtechnik wurde der altpalolithische Charakter der Gerte sichtbar. Der Typenvergleich mit den anerkannten Werkzeugen der altpalolithischen Fundpltze von Battenberg (Pfalz), Mnzenberg und Reutersruh (Oberhessen) besttigte dann das chromerzeitliche Alter. Damit sind die Artefakte etwa 600 000 bis 800 000 Jahre alt. Mit der Fundstelle Schmitshausen und weiteren noch nicht ausgewerteten Pltzen zeigt sich die Pfalz als Schwerpunkt altpalolithischer Kulturen des Homo erectus heidelbergensis. Das Werk schliet nach der Beschreibung der einzelnen Artefakte mit einem berblick ber die Chronologie der Steinzeit, der Evolution des Menschen und einem Glossar ab.About the AuthorEmil Hoffmann, StD. a.D., befasst sich seit 20 Jahren mit archologischen Studien und gilt als Kenner altpalolithischer Artefakte. 1999 erschien "Lexikon der Steinzeit" und 2005 die wissenschaftliche Untersuchung der altpalolithischen Artefakte von "Battenberg".
